Running a small catering operation from home?
Hi,
I have posted before but not really got the information I was looking for.. I am currently employed full time but I would like to earn some money on the side by making party food for children’s parties. I will not be renting a premises and will be making the food from home. Most of the food supplied will be finger food and the majority of it will not need cooking.
I don’t want to register as a business as I’m not sure it will work out etc
Anybody with any useful advice will be very useful
Thank you
Hi
If you are supplying food from your home then you will need to get you kitchen inspected by the food safety officer from you local council authority, you will need to be able to prove due diligence in all areas of food preparation, hold the relevanat food safety qualifications and have a proved HACCP system in place, if you are being paid for this service you provide you will need to register as a business and have the relevant insurance in place, finger food is one of the biggest causes of food poisioning and if you are not insured you could be in big trouble financially – I’m sre this is not waht you wanted to hear, but it is the truth!
Good luck whatever you decide!!
