I know of many affiliates that make their living promoting other peoples products to consumers. I am living proof that an affiliate can make money using the Internet and work from home. I have been an affiliate for two years this October, and I can remember my wife telling me that I was crazy. I was lucky that I already worked a full time job, so this was an adventure that I would be taking on part time.
Six months into my journey, I had not made a dime. I had 78 campaigns running and could not get a single to generate a sale. Sure I had great click volume, but I just could not get the consumers to finish the sale. So I was about to throw in the towel and call it quits. I too was wounding how can an affiliate make money?
But this time I decided to create a simple campaign to see what would happen. I picked a product that I had a little knowledge with and wrote a short product review. Then I used free article marketing methods to link consumers to my product review page. This time I wanted to make sure I was targeting consumers that were ready to buy, so I made sure that my articles were geared to that type of consumer.
One week later, I looked at my campaign statistics. I was discouraged to see that I only generated 10% of the consumer click that I would have normally generated on one of my old campaigns. I thought I was in trouble. Then I checked my affiliate sales page and was surprised to see that 25% of my consumers had decided to buy. And now I have 27 very successful campaigns.
I had found a method that worked. And the only thing that I did differently was to keep my campaign simple and you can not go wrong. A thousand poorly constructed campaigns are not going to get you anywhere. They may bring in a lot of traffic, but you are going to want consumers who are looking to buy.
